Sitting high in the Allegheny Mountain Range, this alpine valley is the highest plateau east of the Rocky Mountains. It’s unique cool and moist climate allows for cold, snowy winters and pleasant summers. The valley is surrounded by the Dolly Sods and Otter Creek Wilderness areas, Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge, Blackwater Falls and Canaan Valley State Parks, and 900,000 acres of National Forest land.
